Let's welcome Mr. Hauser!

As you may or may not know, the PHS MSA has a new sponsor. Mr. M Hauser has shown interest and graciously accepted the position. Our first meeting with him was on Thursday 4th December and was a great success and the majority of members attended.
Our next project is hopefully and small Arabic lesson at the nearest EOP, and then in January sometime, a big dinner to celebrate the differences of all of the religions we have at Pennsbury!
Comment with your ideas!

Formally Speaking...

On Thursday, September 25th 2008 the first formal meeting of the 2008-2009 MSA will be held.
This meeting will be for the Core Group members only, and discussions regarding the future plans of the MSA and other logistics will be discussed. It will be held in the West Library right after school.

In other news, on October 4th, at the Homecoming Carnival, the MSA will be featured. At our table/booth, we will be selling some baked goods, ethnic finger foods, and traditional Henna (along with a Falcon design to support our team at the game!). Don't forget to stop by, and if you are interested in helping us work the booth, please let us know.
Get a taste of our various cultures, and leave with a cool design on your palm or hand!
Hope you can join us!

Until the next post,
Salaam!

Ramadan Kareem!

Asalam Wa Laikum everyone!

With the end of a great summer comes the start of the new school year, and this year we also have the blessing of starting Ramadan as well! With the beginning of Ramadan we face the beginning of a month of fasting, prayer, and constant ibadah (worship), God willing. We must all remember to keep our hearts pure during this wonderful holy month and may Allah (swt) accept our fasts and prayers!

As for the beginning of school, it is necessary to note the lack of involvement in the MSA of the 2007-2008 school year. However, I hope that this year will see a greater excitement and involvement, and hopefully more humanitarian effort can be put forward. It would be of utmost appreciation if responses to this post were given regarding interest in joining this years MSA or suggestions for how we can begin.

ALL involvement is necessary in any way you can give it. Spread the news of the MSA and this website to friends and Inshallah we can start a great tradition here at PHS!

We're back!

Asalam Wa Laikum!
I apologize greatly for the lack of blogging on this site. Unfortunately, the PHS MSA was on quite a long hiatus. But do not fear! Renovations are currently being made, and the association is going to be reinstated. Inshallah it will be better and more successful than before. If you have any suggestions to help us out, don't hesitate to leave a comment on this post!

Clothes, Cards, and Chaos, Oh My!

Hello again! Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed of MSA as to date.

1) Our first project is going to be a Clothing Drive to bring warm clothes to the needy.
2) We will also begin to sell greeting cards or Holiday cards, to fund raise, although the details for this are still being sorted out.
3) As noted in the previous post, our schedule is going to be a little rocky, but this is why we've started this blog...to keep us up-to-date and sane!

I hope that I didn't forget anything, but anyway, inshallah these will be our starting points in the PHS MSA. However, we are still in need of your help! We need a name for this clothing drive, so it would be greatly appreciated if you helped out with that. Who knows? We might choose yours!

Also, if you know of anybody planning to attend our next meeting for the first time, please let them know of this site and the actual date for our next meeting.

Please attach comments so we know that you are here, and also give us a hand in sorting this stuff out. Whew, now that was a long post!

Have A Great Thanksgiving!

Obviously, since we do not have school on Thursday, there will be no MSA meeting. Hopefully we will resume meetings the week after (Nov. 29th). And remember to bring your ideas! This is a necessary step in order for us to move forward as a group!! Also, I apologize for canceling today's meeting on such short notice. There was just a small issue, but hopefully, like I mentioned, we will resume regular meetings on the 29th.

So, all in all, I hope you have a great long weekend, and a happy, healthy Thanksgiving!

****EDIT: Due to a mandatory meeting for teachers on Thursday the 29th, we will instead have the meeting on Wednesday, November 28th. There may be 5 o'clock buses on this day, but if you want to leave earlier, please arrange a ride or carpool. Hope you can come!****
